I grew up in the suburbs of Washington D.C., where I took many art classes throughout my childhood. I studied Anthropology with a minor in Fine Art during my time at the University of Virginia, and began my love of photography during a semester abroad in Sevilla, Spain in 2005. My travel photography became social documentary photography in 2007 as I began to travel through Africa for my work with a non-profit organization. Since 2009, I have been based in Johannesburg, South Africa and continue my love of travel and photography as I travel for work and pleasure.
People have always been my favourite subject, and my wedding and portrait style of photography is informed by my social documentary style, natural and un-posed, using warm natural light. I prefer working without a studio in outdoor or home settings to create images that are unique to you and your family.
I am also available for editorial and social documentary photography, and offer many of my images for commercial and editorial licensing. Some of my work is represented by Getty Images, which you can find here. My work has been published in numerous magazines, newspapers, and books internationally, as well as exhibited. I also was honoured to win the Bronze Medal for the 2010 Nikon Africa Photographic Contest and 3rd place in the the College of Digital Photography 2011 annual Photo Competition.
